Laura Ingalls Wilder: Prairie to Page Documentary

The new PBS documentary that aired at the end of December 2020 is available for viewing online through January 27, 2021.

The PBS documentary, Laura Ingalls Wilder: Prairie to Page, doesn’t have a lot of new information for researchers, but it was interesting, however, I disliked they tried to focus more on the drama of the books, such as Charles Ingalls and money issues, the Rose Wilder Lane / Laura Ingalls Wilder collaboration issues, and of course how the books are seen through today’s eyes in terms of the depictions of Native Americans as Laura wrote in the books.

New Little House on the Prairie Reboot is Underway

Another attempt at a Little House on the Prairie reboot is in the works, executive produced by Trip Friendly. Friendly’s father, Ed Friendly, was the rightsholder for the books and produced the original Little House on the Prairie television show.

Not many more details are known yet, so it is not known how true the show will be to either the original Little House books or to Pioneer Girl, which is a more accurate portrayal of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s childhood. The original television series did have some basis on the real-life of Laura and her family, but it veered into the fictional realm very quickly.

There is a development listing for the new series at IMDB, but with no new details added.

In recent years, there have been attempted reboots of the series as well as a movie, but none of them have come to fruition so far.
