On the television show Little House on the Prairie, we see Nellie Oleson marry Percival Dalton. What about the real-life Nellie Oleson? Was she also married?
While the character of Nellie Oleson was based on three different girls Laura knew, one of the primary ones was known as Nellie Owens. And she did get married, to Henry Kirry in 1893. He had three children, Zola, Lloyd and Leslie. They resided in Bay City, Oregon, where Nellie had been teaching school before her marriage. They later moved to Rainier, Oregon in 1899.
Nellie Owens Kirry lived until she was 80 years old. She died on November 2, 1949, and is buried in Forest Grove, Oregon.
