In the television show Little House on the Prairie, Mary Ingalls has a child with her husband Adam Kendall. But did Mary Ingalls have a baby in real life?
No, Mary Ingalls having a baby was strictly made up for the television show. Many of the things that happened in Mary’s life that were portrayed on the television show did not happen to the real Mary Ingalls. For example, she never got married, she never had a baby, and she was a student, not a teacher, at the school for the blind that she attended.
There are some similarities, such as the fact that Mary did go blind in real life, as it happens in the Little House books. And Mary did attend school for the blind in Iowa, where she attended from 1881 until she graduated in 1889. But she never married nor had a child as the Mary in the television show did.
The blind school the real-life Mary Ingalls attended was quite different from the one portrayed on the television show. You can read more about the Vinton School for the Blind here.
