While Laura Ingalls Wilder is most commonly known for her westward journey as a child, which she recounted in her Little House books, her and her husband Almanzo eventually moved to Missouri.
They left De Smet, South Dakota permanently in 1894 to move to Missouri, where they settled in the town of Mansfield. They eventually moved to what would become known as Rocky Ridge Farm, where her and Almanzo lived until both of their deaths. Their home is now open as a museum for tourists to visit.
