Charles Ingalls was a gifted musician, and throughout the Little House on the Prairie book series, Charles is often playing his fiddle and Laura brings music throughout the series with many different songs that she remembers from her childhood. You can find the lyrics to most of the songs from the Little House books too.
Laura was given the fiddle that Charles Ingalls owned, and it was in her possession when she passed away as well. The fiddle is now on display at the Laura Ingalls Wilder Historic Home and Museum site in Mansfield Missouri, the home of Rocky Ridge Farm where Laura spent most of her adult life with Almanzo.
According to Pioneer Girl, Pa’s fiddle is believed to have been manufactured in Germany in the mid-19th century, with his fiddle case being manufactured in 1850.
