Explore the lives of these single women as they homestead on the frontier without a husband, something that was very unusual for the time period. Accounts are from letters and historical articles from the women themselves.
True accounts of women who decided to homestead on their own. Dozens of women are included in this book about single women who went West to claim homesteads for themselves. While many books look at the lives of women on the frontier or homesteading, few look at it from the point of view of single women who are resourceful enough to attempt it on their own without husbands or other family members to help.
