The first Little House book Laura Ingalls Wilder ever published, it has become a highly celebrated book as it looks into frontier life through a child’s eyes. It was originally published in 1932. Pa tells many stories to young Laura and Mary. They spend a wonderful Christmas with their relatives, and Laura and Mary have lots of fun with their cousins, playing in the snow.
The girls also learn how to make maple syrup, watch Pa make bullets for hunting, and learn about surviving in the pioneer times. Laura and Mary also help Ma and Pa butcher the pig. Laura also visits the booming pioneer town of Pepin, Wisconsin with her family.
