The Ingalls family has survived the hardships they faced during the Long Winter and are now finally able to socialize with other residents in De Smet, South Daokta and attend school with the arrival of better weather.
Laura comes of age in Little Town on the Prairie, and it is a favorite book in the series to many Little House fans. This book is filled with all the social activities of pioneer Laura and her friends, but also shows how hard she works in school, and the sacrifices she makes so she may become a schoolteacher.
With Laura’s help, Mary is finally able to attend the Vinton school for the blind, so she can learn how to read and do many of the things she was unable to do once she become blind.
Laura finally receives her teaching certificate so she can become a schoolteacher like Ma was before her.
