After Adam Kendall regains his sight, he decides to fulfil a dream of his and attends law school after receiving a scholarship. After he graduates and becomes a lawyer, he returns to Walnut Grove as the new lawyer for the small town.
Adam and Mary eventually leave Walnut Grove after he comes a lawyer. The town was too small to support a full-time lawyer, and Adam’s father offered him a job in his law firm in New York City, so both Adam and Mary decide to move to New York to live there permanently.
