The Little House on the Prairie TV show takes place in Walnut Grove, Minnesota, which is also the primary setting for the book On the Banks of Plum Creek by Laura Ingalls Wilder. And while some of the locations in the show are made up, Walnut Grove actually does exist.
Fans of both the shows and the books can visit Walnut Grove and visit the property that the Ingalls lived on when they resided in Walnut Grove, as well as a replica dugout. The museum has memorabilia from both the real Laura Ingalls Wilder as well as from the TV show, and actors from the show periodically visit for special events.
