Was Albert Ingalls based on a real person?

The Little House on the Prairie television show, Albert Ingalls was the adopted son of Charles and Caroline Ingalls. His original name on the show was Albert Quinn before he was adopted by the Ingalls family.

The real life Ingalls family did not adopt any children, this was purely done as a plot for the television show only.  But even though Albert Ingalls was not really adopted by the real life Ingalls and family, was Albert based on any person in either Laura’s life or of the era?

Albert was not based on any character from Laura’s life or the Little House books. And it’s not believed that the character was brought from any real life person that existed during that era either.  The character was completely fictionalized for the show, which explains some of the plots that Albert was involved in on the show that really wouldn’t have made sense to have actually happened at the time frame that Little House is set in.
