Many Little House on the Prairie fans may be surprised to learn that Kim Richards, later a star of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, appeared as a young guest actress on the classic television series. Her early role reflected the show’s themes of compassion, resilience, and community.
Kim Richards’ Role as Olga Nordstrom
Kim Richards appeared in the Season 1 episode “Town Party, Country Party,” playing Olga Nordstrom. Olga was a kind and shy young girl born with one leg shorter than the other, making it difficult for her to run and play with the other children in Walnut Grove.
Touched by Olga’s struggles, Charles Ingalls secretly crafts a special shoe to even out her stride, giving Olga the ability to join in with the other children. The story ends on a heartwarming note as Olga gains newfound confidence and acceptance.
Although Kim Richards only appeared in this single episode, her portrayal of Olga remains a standout moment from the early seasons of Little House on the Prairie.
The Richards Sisters’ Connection to Little House
Kim Richards wasn’t the only member of her family to step into Walnut Grove. Her younger sister, Kyle Richards, had a recurring role on the series for multiple seasons as Alicia Sanderson Edwards, the adopted daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwards.
Both sisters went on to have successful careers in Hollywood, with roots firmly planted in some of the most iconic shows of the 1970s and 1980s.
