While the Little House on the Prairie TV show was loosely based on the life of Laura Ingalls Wilder and her Little House books, many of the episodes are entirely fictionalized, especially in later seasons.
In the episode Bless All the Dear Children, which aired as a two hour special, Rose Wilder is kidnapped by a woman who has lost her own child. At the end of the episode, Rose is rescued and the woman adopts a little boy who was orphaned.
In real life, however, Rose Wilder is never kidnapped from her parents. The episode was completely made up for the show only. While the first season had many parallels to the story of the real life Laura Ingalls Wilder, by the later seasons, some things were very, VERY loosely based on her real life… such as the fact she married Almanzo and had a child named Rose. But the vast majority is completely fictionalized.
