The character of Alice Garvey was a main character for multiple seasons on the television show Little House on the Prairie. But did she exist in real life or in the Little House on the Prairie books that the show is based on?
There was no Alice Garvey as a character in any of the Little House books, nor in any of the original manuscripts for the books or the original Pioneer Girl manuscript which the books are based on. And researchers have found no evidence that an Alice Garvey existed that could have been the basis for the character.
Instead, the Alice Garvey character was created solely for the television show, as it was a mainstay character covering three seasons, portrayed by Hersha Parady.
