What happened to Joe Kagan on Little House on the Prairie?

Joe Kagan first appears on Little House on the Prairie in season 4 on the episode The Fighter and was portrayed by Moses Gunn, a former boxer. He would then go on to appear in a few episodes in season 5 and then finally in an episode in season 7 where he was part of a love triangle with Hester-Sue and her intended husband.

While he was a favourite character of many, especially as he was one of the few African-American characters that was on Little House on the Prairie, many feel that his character wasn’t utilized as much as it could have been.

After the love triangle with Hester-Sue, where Hester Sue ultimately decides not to marry her intended husband, the relationship between Hester Sue and Joe Kagan does not progress any further. While Hester-Sue would appear on episodes after this one, it was Joe Kagan final episode.

Unfortunately, like so many characters on Little House on the Prairie, after this appearance, he was not mentioned again.
