Town Party, Country Party
Season 1, Episode 7
Original Air Date: October 30, 1974
“Sometimes a little kindness can change a life forever.”

Episode Summary:
In this heartfelt and compassionate episode, Laura Ingalls befriends a shy, sweet classmate named Olga Nordstrom, a girl with a minor disability—one of her legs is shorter than the other. Because of this, Olga struggles to walk evenly and is often left out by the other children during games and outdoor play.
Laura, ever empathetic, refuses to let the other kids’ teasing or her teacher’s hesitations keep her from forming a genuine friendship with Olga. Moved by Laura’s loyalty and Olga’s quiet bravery, Charles Ingalls secretly builds a special elevated shoe to help Olga walk and run more easily.
However, Olga’s father, still grieving the loss of his wife and overly protective of his daughter, becomes angry when he discovers what Charles has done without permission. But everything changes when he sees Olga laughing, running, and playing freely for the first time—her smile a powerful reminder of the joy his fear had been preventing.
Guest Star:
Kim Richards (later known for Escape to Witch Mountain and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills) as Olga Nordstrom

Notable Moment:
“You didn’t fix her, Charles. You just helped her believe she wasn’t broken.” – Caroline Ingalls
