Almanzo hires his friend from Sleepy Eye, Harv, to help him while he farms the land he just purchased. Eliza Jane falls in-love with Harv but is too shy to express her feelings. Laura is offered a teaching position out of town. Almanzo learns he was “boon-doggled” in the land deal and is unable to get justice.
