Episode Summary
In “To See the Light (Part One),” Adam Kendall suffers a head injury when an explosion occurs nearby. Miraculously, when he regains consciousness, he realizes something unbelievable—he can see again. Having been blind since childhood, Adam is overwhelmed as he begins to rediscover a world filled with color, light, and visual experience.
Mary, who has loved Adam for who he is regardless of his blindness, finds herself feeling insecure and anxious. She worries that now that Adam can see, he may no longer need her or want to remain in the life they’ve built together at the blind school in Walnut Grove.
Adam, however, is filled with a new sense of purpose. Inspired by this second chance, he announces his decision to pursue a career in law, something he had once dreamed of before losing his sight.
